US TALK

What does success mean to you?

Making small, consistent efforts.

Something you learned early in your career that helped you become a better actor?

I was lucky enough to work with veteran actors and directors. I think good observation and improvisation helped me become a better actor.

What is the most challenging thing about this career?

When we play different characters, we are actually living different lives. So, in the process, I am always worrying about losing my real self. And living away from family and hometown is quite challenging for me.

Who are some of your role model actors/actresses, and what do you like about their work?

When it comes to range and versatility, Fawad Khan and Ali Zafar have always been my role models.

From all your roles so far, which role was the most meaningful to you, and why?

All roles were unique in some way or another. Recently I played Hazim in Mohabbat Chor di Maina and Nehaal in Banno. Both the characters were quite challenging for me, and I learned a lot about acting through playing those characters.

Do you believe good looks and connections are the only things that make a star?

I think good connections and right timings may help you get into the industry quickly, but in the absence of talent, these won’t help you survive.

How has social media changed things for you?

Personally, I am not a big fan of social media, but it helps me connect with my loving fans.

Three pieces of advice for aspiring actors.

- Never run after fame, money or title.

- Work smart but also work hard.

- Never stop learning.
