Dear Editor,

I am always happy to read Us on Fridays, but I feel you should focus on the one issue that is very close to the hearts of people my age: politics. Ed, we all have views on the current situation in the country. I want to know – and I am sure all the readers out there, too – want to know the views of other young people. We listen to talk shows and news, but the anchors and panelists are old people. I hope you understand my point of view, and include stories on politics.

Hey Ed,

I am an old reader of Us, and am always happy to read articles by Fatima Zakir. I was thrilled to finally read the summer movies’ list provided by her in the issue of June 17. I was happy to note that her views on movies still align with mine. Ed, I miss ‘Greetings’ page that you have discontinued. Eid-ul-Azha is just around the corner, and I hope you will consider taking our greetings in the issue before Eid.

Hey Ed,

Us is a magazine for the youth, and usually I find stories and articles I can relate to. What I miss in Us is fun stuff. In this week’s issue (June 17) I liked the cover story ‘Summer time: sit back, relax and watch movies. It’s nice to get relief from depressing stuff once in a while. Us needs more write-ups on entertainment. Please give us some articles on Pakistani entertainment industry. I have a suggestion: invite your readers to write reviews on trending dramas on Pakistani channels and on Netflix.

Hello Ed,

I really appreciate Us for publishing the ‘Reflection’ section. It is one of my favourite sections. I normally don’t have time to read ahadees. There is a lot of pressure on students, so I feel good when I read one saying of our Prophet (S.A.W) on Fridays.

Reflection

Narrated by Abu Huraira (R.A)

Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) said “We are the last (to come amongst the nations) but (will be) the foremost on the Day of Resurrection. They were given the Holy Scripture before us and we were given the Quran after them. And this was the day (Friday) about which they differed and Allah gave us the guidance (for that). So tomorrow (i.e. Saturday) is the Jews’ (day), and the day after tomorrow (i.e. Sunday) is the Christians’.” The Prophet remained silent (for a while) and then said, “It is obligatory for every Muslim that he should take a bath once in seven days, when he should wash his head and body.” Narrated Abu Huraira through different narrators that the Prophet said, “It is Allah’s right on every Muslim that he should take a bath (at least) once in seven days.”
