Expo attracts huge crowd; visitors praise Jang Media Group

GUJRANWALA: Federal Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan inaugurated an education expo organised by the Jang Media Group in Kangniwala on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Khurram Dastgir Khan said that an increase in the literacy rate was a priority of the government. He said that the government had allocated huge funds for the purpose. He said that the expo was very informative for students and citizens, which allowed students to interact with recruiters from leading national and international universities. He said: “I am happy to see such a large number of stalls at the expo and such activities should be organised frequently to provide guidance to the students.” Gujranwala’s acting Commissioner Muhammad Amir Jaan, DCO Ahad Dogar, assistant commissioners Attiqur Rehman and Arifullah Awan, DBA president Waqar Hussain Butt, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education chairman, MPA Muhammad Taufiq Butt, MPA Abdul Rauf Mughal, MPA Ch Muhammad Iqbal, University of Sargodha Vice-Chancellor Dr Ehsan Malik, the medical superintendent Social Security Hospital, doctors, industrialists and large number of students and parents visited the expo and praised the efforts of the Jang Media Group.

A student, Rashid, said that the Jang Media Group had provided a great opportunity to students by organising the expo to expose themselves to a world of quality education and modern programmes. Other students said that since it was never easy to find out information about the programmes and admission criteria of various major colleges and universities, a one-on-one meeting with the top educational institutions representatives had quenched their thirst of seeking maximum information. They said that a visit to the expo could be a turning point in their lives as it would help them in setting a new road map for their future. They said that schools, colleges and universities representatives briefed them on admission procedures, scholarships, courses and scope of their degrees worldwide. They said that the education expo should be arranged every year in the best interest of students and their parents. A delegation of wrestlers, wearing traditional dresses, also visited the expo, which remained a source of attraction for the citizens.

The wrestlers, Hamza Pehalwan, Pervez Pehalwan, Hannan Pehalwan and Shahid Pehalwan, also visited the stalls and appreciated the Jang Media Group. A large number ofA large number of schools, colleges and universities, set up their stalls at the expo. The growing interest among Pakistani students to study abroad drew a large crowd of students, parents and teachers to the expo. Admission officers and career counselors from over 50 schools, colleges and universities provided information to the visitors regarding admissions and courses.

Jang Group Managing Director Marketing Sarmad Ali, Director Marketing North Sadia Sharif, Director South Uzma Zia Rizvi, General Manager Marketing Irfan Ashraf, Senior General Manager Islamabad Syed Amjad Ali and others were also present. Later, the minister visited different stalls.
