Pakistan’s hopes rest on Chand, Khurrum

KARACHI: The performance of Pakistani shooters deteriorated further in the Asia Olympic Qualifying Competition for Shooting in New Delhi, India.

On Saturday, Ghufran Adil scored 606.3 (98.7, 99.6, 101.5, 103.7, 100.9, 101.9) to stand 41st in the qualification round of 10m Air Rifle event.

Mushtaq Shahid took the second last position (51st) by scoring 590.1 (98.8, 99.4, 96.2, 100.2, 99.4, 96.1).

Mehwish Farhan scored 188 (49, 92, 47) in the rapid stage in 25m pistol event on Sunday. She had scored 275 (92, 92, 91) in the precision stage on Saturday. With a total score of 463 she stood last (36th).

Pakistan’s hopes to win a quota place for Rio Olympics rest on Usman Chand and Khurrum Inam who will take part in Skeet event on Monday (today) and Tuesday.

This is the last event for Pakistani shooters to win any quota place for Rio Olympics.

There were as many as 575 athletes from 32 nations in this championship which is taking place at Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range. The competition offers 35 Olympic quota places for Rio 2016 in three shooting disciplines.
