SARGODHA: The Kinnow Growers Association (KGA) stressed the government to take steps to support the dying citrus industry in the area as farmers are unable to even meet the produce expenditures.

The growers, at a meeting attended by Director Altaful Rehman at Citrus Research Institute, showed severe reservations over low rates of kinnow in the market.

Rehman briefed the participants about the modern way of minimising risk of pests and diseases.

He said most of the farmers are unaware of the modern techniques of cultivation, which causes low production. He added that the risk of diseases’ attack also remains high in old techniques.
