ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad on Saturday announced that PPP MNA Jam Abdul Karim would be arrested upon arrival in Pakistan as he is nominated in the Nazim Jokhio Murder case.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Sheikh Rasheed said that the suspect is being brought to Pakistan from Dubai without obtaining bail ahead of voting on the no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
It shows that their legs are trembling, he added. The minister said that the DG FIA and IG Sindh have been directed to arrest him upon arrival at the airport.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Rasheed said that voting on the no-trust resolution will take place on April 3 or 4.
He maintained that every party is allowed to hold public gatherings in the federal capital but nobody will be granted permission to stage sit-in in Islamabad or enter the Red Zone.
Responding to a question, the interior minister said that he has suggested to PM Imran Khan that the PTI should present a people-friendly and pro-poor budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
He claimed that the no-trust motion against the premier will fail, adding that the Opposition has taken Imran Khan to the heights of popularity.
In response to another question, the minister said that he has directed the FIA to launch a crackdown against those involved in the social media campaign against the national security institutions.
He further said that he had suggested that they should move towards elections after the next budget but PM Imran rejected his proposal. The minister said that the prime minister had also rejected the proposal of governor rule in Sindh.
Urging the Opposition to show political maturity, he warned that the government can call in Army under Article 245 of the Constitution.
According to a report published in Daily Dawn, the Sindh High Court on Friday granted 10-day protective bail to PPP MNA Jam Abdul Karim in the Nazim Jokhio murder case.
As per the publication, the PPP MNA, who is currently in Dubai, moved the court seeking a way to appear before the trial court in the murder case.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Mohammad Iqbal Kalhoro granted protective bail against a solvent surety of Rs100,000 to the MNA directing him to surrender before the trial before or till April 3.
