Hello Editor,

I would like to thank Us team for publishing Poets’ Corner every week. I enjoy reading poetry and I love the simplicity of the poets. Last week (Jan 21), Beauty by Maryam Shah really impressed me. It was written beautifully and delivered a powerful message that beauty “requires to be felt/ by the heart and seen/ through the soul”. Keep up the good work, Maryam.

Hi Ed,

“A peek into the distant past” by Saliha Hussain was an informative piece. I am also a Physics student and wish to study Astronomy in the future but what makes me sad is that in Pakistan no university offers advance studies in the field of astronomy. My teachers say I must look for higher study programmes in America or Australia.

Please Ed, talk to Physics professors in other cities like Islamabad and Lahore to find out if Astronomy has a future in Pakistan. Do you we have institutes for teaching Astronomy? Or if students want to apply for foreign universities, what countries and institutes they should go for studying Astronomy? I will be waiting patiently for an article on this topic.

Hi Eddy,

Us magazine is doing great! I read it regularly. I have a something to say about the paper quality of the magazine. Ed, the feel of the magazine also contributes to the overall experience of reading a magazine. There are other newspapers also that are able to maintain the quality of their paper. I have noticed Us magazine’s paper quality is diminishing day by day. The pictures are usually blurry and colours look faded.

I have written about this issue several time but nothing has happened so far. Please pay attention to this issue.

Hey Ed,

Poets’ corner is my favourite page! I write random Urdu verses for my Poetry page on Instagram. And I get an overwhelming response. It shocks me sometimes how much young people appreciate literary content in Pakistan. Us poets also give me inspiration. I also wish to write poems in English one day and as soon as I do that I will share my work with Us magazine.

Reflection

Narrated Abu Huraira:

A dead man in debt used to be brought to Allah’s Messenger ( ) who would ask, “Has he left anything to re pay his debts?” If he was informed that he had left something to cover his debts the Prophet ( ) would offer the funeral prayer for him; otherwise he would say to the Muslims present there), “Offer the funeral prayer for your friend:”but when Allah helped the Prophet ( ) to gain victory (on his expeditions), he said, “I am closer to the Believers than themselves, so. if one of the Believers dies in debt, I will repay it, but if he leaves wealth, it will be for his heirs.
