KARACHI: Eminent journalist Azhar Abbas shot a superb seven-under 65 to win the net title of the 11th Atlas Honda Amateur Golf Championship here at the Arabian Sea Country Club.
The gross trophy went to ASCC’s Sajid Khan, who fired two-under-70 to win the top honours ahead of DACGC’s Karrar Hussain (71).
President Sindh Golf Association (SGA) Asad I.A. Khan, Director Marketing Atlas Honda Nur Ul Hoda, and ASCC Captain Arshad I. A. Khan graced the prize distribution ceremony of the tournament.
Arshad praised and thanked Atlas Honda for keeping faith with ASCC and holding the event annually.
Earlier, Sajid was in close contest with Karrar Hussain for the main event. Karrar finished second with one-under 71.
Sajid who finished as runner-up in the amateur category of the Pakistan Open last year showed his class, when after bogeying at par-5 fifth hole recovered to finish with flying honors.
In the ladies category, Ania Farooq, a student of 11th grade at the city school PAF Chapter, took the title after shooting 75.
In the same category Chen Tung Hui, took the net title with the score of 75 and Tahira Raza, finished second with net 89.
Umer Bangash, with a score of 73, won the seniors category and Asad I. A. Khan with 78 finished second. Sajid Sharif won the net event.
The juniors’ category title went to Junaid Irfan with 1 over 73 and in the same category Abdullah won the net title with score of 64.
