Expensive sugar

Pakistan is an agricultural country. It is too unfortunate to see long queues outside the country’s utility stores. People wait for hours to get a single bag of one kilogramme of sugar at government-fixed prices (which are slightly lower than market prices). Older men and women spend their entire day in queues only to purchase bags of sugar and flour. Why have we failed to facilitate our people?

Utility stores can be seen in every other residential area. However, there is no mechanism to run them properly. The word ‘sugar mafia’ is not unfamiliar; why is the government not taking any action against this mafia? In this period of development where advanced courtiers are trying to go to Mars, we are still busy finding bags of sugar and other food items.
