PML-N VP Ch Javed Iqbal had submitted a complaint regarding violation of the ECP’s code of conduct during the AJK election campaign with Returning Officer Raja Shamrez. Iqbal had alleged Federal Minister Ali Amin Gandapur distributed cash among voters at Ghuner and Dhadiyal to influence the elections. Since the federal minister was accompanied by PTI candidate Azhar Sadiq, thereby the complaint asked the RO to declare the PTI’s candidate ineligible for contesting the polls. Sadiq is contesting from LA 1, Mirpur, Dhadiyal.

During the hearing, PTI Ch Rasib admitted to receiving funds from the federal minister before the Returning Officer Raja Shamrez. He clarified that the funds had nothing to do with the PTI candidate Azhar Sadiq and he received over Rs 0.3 lac from the minister. The RO, while clearing the PTI candidate of the guilt, confiscated the amount. The RO dispatched his report to the CEC AJK, who will eventually decide the fate of Azhar Sadiq after hearing.
