This refers to the news report ‘250,439 patients treated free of cost under KP Sehat Card Plus programme’ (July 3). PM Imran Khan shared the news report on his Twitter account and congratulated the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on this achievement. He added that “this is the Pakistan we are moving towards – that was envisioned by Allama Iqbal and Quaid-i-Azam”. Quaid’s motto was unity, faith and discipline. Is the country practising this motto? The answer is ‘no’. There is no rule of law and justice in Pakistan. Around 50 million Pakistanis are currently living below the poverty line and are unable to make ends meet.
If the country is serious about poverty alleviation, it must take steps to provide the basic facilities to people, create employment opportunities and ensure that everyone has access to justice. These basic rights are unfortunately non-existent in the country. The PTI needs to implement its manifesto that it proudly announced before coming to power. The ruling party was supposed to bring the much-needed change to the country.
