This refers to the letter ‘Poor performance” (June 29) by Guldar Khan Wazir. The writer has pointed out the areas where the current government hasn’t performed well. It is equally important to highlight the incumbent government’s achievements too. In 2019, after Pakistan captured an Indian pilot, Imran Khan released him immediately as a gesture of peace. In 2020, during the first wave of Covid-19, the Imran Khan-led government dealt with the situation in an impressive manner. In Peshawar, the BRT project is also a remarkable achievement of the PTI. Other programmes like the Sehat Card and the Ehsaas programme cannot be ignored too. As far as joblessness is concerned, unemployment is a global issue.

It is true that our political parties usually focus on infrastructure projects and don’t do much to create job opportunities. Here, the government should focus on creating equal employment opportunities for people. The writer also talked about the country’s poor economy. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, developed countries like the US and China also had to see various challenges. The current economic situation is not because of the government’s policies but because of the devastation caused by a pandemic.
