Covid-19 claimed 11 more lives in Sindh during the previous 24 hours, raising the death toll to 5,116 in the province. In the meantime, 916 patients were under treatment at different hospitals, of whom the condition of 859 patients was stated to be critical.
In addition to 11 more deaths, 722 new cases of Covid-19 emerged during the previous 24 hours after 13,536 tests were conducted, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Saturday in his daily Covid-19 situation report.
He explained that with 5,116 deaths, the Covid-19 fatality rate remained at 1.6 per cent in the province.
The CM maintained that the diagnosis of 722 cases through 13,536 samples constituted a 5.3 per cent current detection rate. He added that so far 4,180,063 tests had been conducted, against which 323,055 cases were diagnosed, of which 91 per cent or 294,257 patients had recovered, including 747 during the previous 24 hours.
He said there were currently 23,682 patients of Covid-19 in Sindh, of whom 22,741 were in home isolation, 25 at isolation centres and 916 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 859 patients was stated to be critical and 81 of them had been shifted onto ventilators.
According to Shah, of the 722 new cases, 436 were detected in Karachi, including 152 in District East, 81 in District Central, 77 in District Korangi, 61 in District South, 43 in District Malir and 22 in District West.
In the rest of Sindh, Hyderabad had 52 new cases, Tando Allahyar 22, Mirpurkhas and Sukkur 20 each, Dadu and Matiari 15 each, Jamshoro, Khairpur and Sujawal 14 each, Sanghar 13, Larkana 12, Tharparkar and Shaheed Benazirabad 10 each, Badin nine, Tando Muhammad Khan and Umerkot six each, and Ghotki, Jacobabad and Shikarpur had two new cases each.
