At a standstill

Countries around the world are progressing and developing as time passes. However, there are still certain individuals or groups within our country who make one wonder if we are even progressing at all. A personal associate told me about an incident in Balochistan whereby a man was selling his daughter for Rs50,000 because he was poor. This price was actually brought lower because the girl had a physical defect in her eye. Moreover, there are reports time and time again of family rivalries escalating to the point of murder for the sake of avenging family honour. Unfortunately, such reports are common in Pakistan.

Our leaders place so much emphasis on our need to develop as a nation, but it is impossible to do so without creating awareness and education campaigns necessary to curb such social problems in the country.
