Education and research key to growth: says HEC chairman

The two-day international conference on Language, Literature and Linguistics concluded at the Air University here on Wednesday. A number of participants from US, UK, Japan, Turkey, Malaysiaand Pakistan participated in the conference.

In five academic sessions, researchers presented their papers, poster presentations and farewell sessions. The programmes offered by faculty fostered cultural, social and political understanding as well as critical and creative thinking. The students and scholars imbibe such thinking and understanding and acquired skills in order to cope with the challenges in various fields of life. The conference provided the learning atmosphere of fresh research trends and motivation in conducting further research.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the chief guest, HEC Chairman Professor Dr Mukhtar Ahmed praised Air University for conducting such mega event and added, “We know the significance of education and research in today’s challenging world. The international academic and research community is quite active in the creation and dissemination of knowledge. HEC has inculcated a spirit of research in the society.” He further said that no country can succeed in the world if its focus is not on research and providing a good system of education. For the attainment of this goal significance of social sciences and humanities cannot be ignored as it pinpoints social issues of a society.

Air University Vice-chancellor Air Vice Marshal (r) Faaiz Amir congratulated the department of humanities for conducting successful international conference. He said that the holding such a thought-provoking conference is a timely initiative and a commendable effort, and goes in line with the research-intensive vision and mission of Air University. This is where Higher Education has a distinctive role to play, and I am glad to see that Air University is very much alive to this role, and is working proactively to lead the efforts in this direction. He appreciated the relentless efforts of the dean, faculty of social sciences and her team to attract experts from national and international level. The international speakers participation is an indication of the trust and belief of national and international academia in the quality education and research culture of Air University.

On behalf of Vice Chancellor of Air University and the organizing team of International presenters and participants, without whom such a great event would not have been possible. Our prime aim was to cultivate academic rigor and to inculcate a spirit of research among faculty members, scholars and students from around the world,” he said.

About 400 people attended the closing ceremony and hailed the conference organisers for hosting a successful conference.
