KARACHI: Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) started trials on Monday to select a four-member team for the South Asian Games (SAG) to be held in India in February next year.
Secretary PSF Amir Nawaz told ‘The News’ that Sheikh Saqib, Nasir Iqbal, Farhan Zaman, Tayyab Aslam, Danish Atlas and Mohammad Asim had reported for trials. “The matches have started today and the team will be selected by Wednesday,” he said. “Farhan Mehboob did not join the trials despite all the facilities and favours extended to him by the federation,” he added.
When contacted, Farhan’s father Mehboob Khan said his son deserved exemption from the trials. “The federation ignored him for the World Team Championship despite being the key player,” he said. “And now they are expecting him to take part in the trials, which is strange,” he appended.
