This refers to the news report, ‘Transparency without accountability fails to improve attendance of MNAs’ (December 10). The poor attendance of law (breakers) makers in parliament adds weight to the speculation that electioneering in our part of the world is a profitable investment.
Our lawmakers spent a lot during electioneering since wealth was the sole criterion for their entitlement to have a party ticket. Therefore, upon winning the election, they leave no stone unturned to double their investments, staking the sanctity of the rules/regulations of which they are supposed to be custodians.
