It seems the hue and cry over Bashar Momin’s exclusion from LSA nominations for 2014 has eventually resulted in some positive change. The LSAs team has sent out a revised list of television nominations and this time Faysal Qureshi has made the cut for his impressive performance in and as Bashar Momin. prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

According to the new nominations list, Geo TV’s Aasmano Pe Likha starring Sajal Ali and Shehryar Munawwar Siddiqi was added in the Best TV play category. While Bashar Momin’s makers still did not get a nod, lead actor Faysal Qureshi scored a mention for Best TV actor and quite deservingly so. In a surprise turn of events, actors Mikaal Zulfiqar and Noman Ijaz were stripped off their nominations, and so was writer Sarmad Sehbai who was nominated for Hum TV’s Laa. Instead writer Zanjabeel Asim has been nominated in the Best TV writer category for the drama Marasim and not for Bashar Momin. Sakina Samo was also omitted from the nominations for Best TV director for Mohabbat Subh Ka Sitaara Hai just like all other nomination relating to the drama. Apparently, the names were dropped on the production house’s request.

The press release further adds that “on therequest of the producers, themusicnomination for Sadqay Tumharay in the Best OST category was withdrawn”. Perhaps Hum TV only wants its dramas to be recognized by them and not other awarding entities or perhaps it is, as rumoured, Hum’s reaction to Zindagi Gulzar Hai NOT sweeping the awards last year as Humsafar did the year before.

Mah-e-Meer settles for a November release

After long hauls and countless delays, Anjum Shahzad’s directorial venture Maah-e-Meer has finally confirmed a November 6, 2015 release. The information was announced on Twitter by Box Office Detail which was then reaffirmed with lead actor Fahad Mustafa’s retweet.

According to Fahad’s earlier interview with Instep, the actor had revealed that the film was facing delays because it was initially made to be small-scaled; meant to be showcased at film festivals, until the producers decided that the film had the potential to draw commercial audience. Based around the life of a contemporary poet and his struggle to connect with the aspects of Urdu poet Mir Taqi Mir’s life, the film may be unconventional but according to Fahad is “interesting and intelligent”.

Up until a couple of months ago, Maah-e-Meer was eyeing for an Eidul Azha release but it seems another delay has pushed the makers to lock November 6. One only hopes that this one’s a final decision with no changes in near future. Maah-e-Meer also stars Iman Ali as courtesan Mahtab, Sanam Saeed, Alyy Khan and Manzar Sehbai.

Farhad Humayun signs a three-year

endorsement deal with Liberty Drums

Farhad Humayun, the front-man and force behind one of Pakistan’s premier music acts, Overload, is having his moment. The latest is Farhad’s tie-up with Liberty Drums. According to the official press release, Farhad has officially signed an endorsement deal with the British company for a period of three years. To be more specific, Liberty Drums “is building custom drums on specifications given by Farhad, in a combination of the highest quality woods from the world.”

The PR release goes on to state that the sound of every drum will be engineered to the suit Farhad’s music style and will also bear his name. That’s a pretty good gig, we think.

Farhad Humayun’s latest endorsement deal is certainly not surprising given his meteoric rise, not just as a drummer, but also as songwriter, producer and as a live artist. With a stellar repertoire with songs like ‘Mahi’, ‘Nimmi Nimmi’, ‘Bolo Na’ and ‘Jeet’ and a stint with Pepsi Smash, Farhad’s growth as an artist is certainly worth watching.

On the occasion of this endorsement deal, Farhad, who is the first Asian to sign up with Liberty Drums shared his excitement and joy and said, ““It’s an honour when your hard work is recognized and rewarded. I am absolutely thrilled to be a Liberty Drum artist. I’ve played almost all brands of drums in the world but I’ve been looking for a drum that sounds like me: a sound of drums that translates all the emotions I feel while playing music and I’ve found that in Liberty. I also feel that the large companies make products that are standardized but working with Liberty, I can hear so much character in the drums and Andrew’s craftsmanship is just immaculate.”
