Another one bites the ‘star’-dust, the cliché would go, as popular TV actress and former model Sanam Saeed begins her journey to the silver screen. Sanam has reportedly signed up for an Indo-Pak collaboration, a romantic-thriller called ‘Bachaana’ that is being produced in India and directed by a Pakistani (by debut director, Nasir Khan). Sanam has been cast in the lead role opposite Mohib Mirza.

Sanam has developed a following in India, thanks to Zee Zindagi and the popularity of Zindagi Gulzar Hai, which is probably why she was chosen for this collaboration. She has been cast as an Indian girl named ‘Aalia’ whereas Mohib Mirza plays ‘Vicky’, a Pakistani taxi driver. Interestingly, the film has neither been shot in Pakistan nor India, but on the tropical island of Mauritius. Bachaana is expected to be the story of ill-fated circumstances and events that lead Aalia to trust Vicky, who she rarely knows.

While talking about the film, Saeed said, “Aalia’s character was very much unlike the roles I had played before. All of us, in whatever way we can, are trying to bridge the gaps and differences between India and Pakistan.” Saeed also said that she had enough references and advice on Indian girls from the team.

“At the end of the day, Aalia is a South Asian girl that I am very familiar with - whether she is Indian or Pakistani. This is a contemporary, easy, breezy, feel-good rom-com. I am sure audiences in India and Pakistan will both enjoy this fun zesty story,”she added.

If he appears this good on paper, we can only imagine how awesome he will look on screen. Raees is slotted for a release next year and also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Farhan Akhtar.
