9Lines, the brainchild of two young men from Lahore, Hassan Iqbal Rizvi and Saad Shahid, first became popular because of its truck-art inspired stationary items and cushion covers. “People wanted us to turn those designs into clothes but for our pret collection, we’ve chosen to stay away from truck art because designers like Rizwan Beyg and brands like Gulabo have already done it,” says Rizvi, the creative force behind 9Lines.
He instead looked to pop geniuses of the ’50s and ’60s, artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, for inspiration and came up with a pop-art collection featuring unconventional prints such as the “Pow! Shirt”, the “Vintage Comics” print and the “Pucker-up Lips.” The digitally printed lawn shirts are available for order online as well as at multi-label store L’Atelier in Lahore and Islamabad. Priced between an affordable PKR 3,850 to 4,250, the shirts come in small and medium sizes and can also be purchased in an unstitched version to customize according to your liking.
