We’re two days away from the official announcement of the film Ho Mann Jahaan and the excitement for the film keeps building. This new poster, suffused with colour and featuring three very good-looking actors – Mahira Khan, Adeel Husain and Shehreyar Munawer Siddiqui – sets up expectations of a film that promises a good time. The trio star as college friends and bandmates coming from diverse backgrounds.
It’s refreshing to see a film reaching out to the youth majority in our masses – television is far too housewife-centred to draw in the younger age bracket. Young people need to see characters they can identify with; to that end, Ho Mann Jahaan appears to deliver.
In an exclusive interview with Instep on Sunday, director Asim Raza spoke to that effect, and added: “For me, it is not the coming of age of just the three (pictured characters) but also the coming of age of their parents.
So it’s talking to two generations at the same time. I want everyone who watches the film to be able to relate to some character or the other.”
Gulabo launches its e-store
Designer Maheen Khan may have retired from the runway with her original titular label
Gulabo’s website that launched over the weekend allows you choose from all its offerings – from menswear and the funky signature kameezes to the statements handbags and stole and the signature t-shirts. However, unlike the brand’s ethos that boasts of funk, patriotism and refreshing enthusiasm, the website is very simple and straightforward in its layout.
Don’t expect any teaser videos, access to lookbooks and enticing visual effects unlike other designer websites; just plain, simple, user-friendly categories and outfit images. Given the brand’s lively feel, we wonder why the layout was kept so simple but then again, apart from exuding free-spiritedness, Gulabo also speaks of no-fuss comfort and the website offers just that.
