KARACHI: Pakistan finished with a silver medal when they lost to France in the final of the men’s duo event of the World Ju Jitsu Championship in Bangkok on Sunday.
Abu Huraira and Mohammad Ammar represented Pakistan in the decider. The duo had beaten India in the semi-final.
Australia and Thailand claimed bronze medals.
This is the first time that the country has grabbed a silver medal at the global level in martial arts.
The same Pakistani pair had clinched gold medal in the Asian Beach Games in November 2014 in Bangkok.
An official told ‘The News’ that it was nice to see the young pair performing well in the major event. “It’s great for Pakistan,” he said.
