This refers to the article, ‘Reacting to Paris, at home and abroad’ (November 17). It should now be clear to all of us that the war against extremism is going to be a long one. The only way to win the war against extremism is to increase security.
In Pakistan’s case, our rulers should stop wasting money on frivolous projects like metro buses etc and spend the maximum amount on preventing terrorists from striking at will. Targeting and bombing out their hideouts may help but ultimately rulers in the Muslim world will have to give people the space to profess their democratic rights, provide them justice and education. In short, Muslim countries should become welfare states like Sweden.
