Dear Ed,

In the issue of June 19, I enjoyed the cover story, ‘The wonderful world of Sameen’. I always like Sameen Amer’s articles, especially her yearly round-ups. Her answers were witty and more importantly, in this Covid 19 infested world, it was light reading! Saad Nazeer is a very talented poet. He does not write lyrical, romantic poems, which I detest. ‘In the distant night of solitude’ by him was really good. ‘A rose for your tough garden’ was an informative read. I have ‘loud speaker wale gulabi phool’ ka gamla (pot, a big one, of course) but didn’t know its real name, I am a new gardener and, actually, it’s because of lockdown that I developed interest in gardening. More articles on veggies we can grow easily will be welcome. Please don’t tell me to look online! Too much work!

Hey Ed,

I loved the backcover picture of today’s issue (June 26)! It sends a strong message to us, human beings, too. But to be honest, I loved it because of its super cuteness. In the last week’s issue (June 19), I found ‘Comic Relief’ hilarious! Ed, till lockdown, can you not make ‘Comic Relief’ of two pages? I am sure your readers will second my suggestion! We are all bored and frustrated. Please think about it.

Dear Editor,

I hail from a beautiful valley, Kohat; although, I live in Islamabad. I first read ‘Us Magazine’ a few months back, when a friend of mine got his article published here. Not only did I read his article, but also the rest of the articles. I found them highly interesting and informative; and now I’ve decided to write for ‘Us Magazine’ myself. It is my humble request that please add more articles than usual so that kids can read more.

And yes, keep up the good work, ‘Us Magazine’!

Reflection

Narrated Abu Huraira (R.A):

The Prophet (S.A.W) said, “Allah created Adam (A.S), making him 60 cubits tall. When He created him, He said to him, “Go and greet that group of angels, and listen to their reply, for it will be your greeting (salutation) and the greeting (salutations of your offspring.” So, Adam said (to the angels), As-Salamu Alaikum (i.e. Peace be upon you). The angels said, “As-salamu Alaika wa Rahmatu-l-lahi” (i.e. Peace and Allah’s Mercy be upon you). Thus the angels added to Adam’s salutation the expression, ‘Wa Rahmatu-l-lahi,’ Any person who will enter Paradise will resemble Adam (in appearance and figure). People have been decreasing in stature since Adam’s creation.
