Whose fault was it?

This refers to the editorial ‘Revealing report’ (April 7). You conclude your editorial, asking following pertinent questions: “Why was this crisis allowed to spiral out of hand and why could timely action not be taken to stem the crisis. Moreover, who is more to blame here – those who availed subsidies which led to a crisis eventually or those who gave them the opportunity to do so?” We know that in Pakistani politics, parasites have almost always been there who initially, by way of investment, dish out big favours to political leaders and, in time, see their investments returned with astronomical profits through returned favours.

So, I firmly believe that the leaders who keep such persons around them are primarily to blame because, for favours received by them personally, the country and the nation have to bear the brunt. Also, their job is to prevent such frauds, and not create opportunities for them, like was done in this case. How come despite opposition and rejection of the subsidy by the federal government, the Punjab government authorized it? The primary responsibility therefore, rests with Imran Khan, and Usman Buzdar whose responsibility, because of being hand-picked against all odds, also reverts to Imran Khan.
