Robber wounded by shopkeeper during mugging bid

Two people were injured on Thursday in separate incidents of mugging in the city on Thursday. Meanwhile, a suspected robber was arrested in an injured state in a third incident.

According to police, a mugging bid took place in the Macchar Colony area within the limits of the Mauripur police station where unidentified armed men shot and injured a 40-year-old person, Irfan, son of Zarnosh. He was shifted to the Civil Hospital, Karachi.

Police said the victim was shot after he offered resistance during the mugging bid. A case has been registered while further investigations are under way. In another incident, a 25-year-old man, Tariq, son of Javed, was wounded in the Pathan Colony area within the remits of the Madina Colony police station. He was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi.

Meanwhile, a suspected robber was injured while he, along with his companion, was trying to steal cash and other valuables from a shopkeeper in Sherpao Colony within the jurisdiction of the Quaidabad police station.

Police said the two armed men on a motorcycle were trying to rob a shopkeeper when the latter opened fire on them. As a result, one of the robbers was wounded and his companion fled the scene. The injured man was arrested and taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. He was identified as Asif, son of Habib.
