KARACHI: Prof Ijaz Ahmed Farooqui who had resigned as KCCA president a few days back has withdrawn it on the insistence of KCCA council.
“Serving cricket in the city is a priority for me and I will play my due role in the promotion of cricket in the city. I took back my resignation on the persuasion of KCCA council and in the interest of the city,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
He said that a few days back he met chairman PCB Shaharyar Khan, who also convinced him that Karachi’s cricket needed him at the moment and asked him to continue as KCCA president in the interest of cricket in the city.
Farooqui further said that he was thankful to commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui who provided his all out support during “the critical period and convinced me to continue as KCCA president”.
He said he would always remember how KCCA officials expressed confidence in him and compelled him to take back his resignation.
