Moving abroad

A Pakistani university has recently announced that it will be opening campuses in four different countries: Turkey, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka. This decision was approved in a meeting of the board of governors of Iqra University. When I heard this news on social media I was quite surprised as Pakistan only has 174 universities, too few to accommodate our burgeoning young population.

Every year many applicants fail to get admissions into universities as a result of their inability to absorb the large number of applicants our country produces. Yet, instead of opening more branches in Pakistan our universities are opening branches in foreign countries. If Pakistani universities open more branches in Pakistan, every year we can generate more top professionals in a variety of fields.
