Pak girls off to winning start in Fed Cup

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani girls were off to winning start in the Fed Cup beating Singapore and Mongolia by 2-1 margin to go on the top of Pool A in the Asia Oceania Group II event under way in Wellington. According to reports reaching here, Ushana Sohail won her match against Singapore’s Sara Pang 6-0, 6-0 with Sarah Mahboob Khan losing against Izebella Tan Hui Xin 2-6, 1-6. Mahin Aftab and Ushana Sohail then combined in to beat Singapore Temmy Tan and Izebella Tan Hui Xin in doubles 6-1, 6-1 to complete the win. In a match against Mongolia, Ushana Sohail beat Jargal Al Tansarnai 6-3, 6-0 while Mahin lost her match against E Erdenebat 3-6, 1-6. Later both Mahin and Ushana combined in to beat Tansarnai and Erdenebat 6-3, 6-3 to win the tie. Pakistan women will next play against hosts New Zealand for top position in the group.
