Suspected drug peddlers among 21 held by Rangers

The Sindh Rangers arrested 21 suspects during different raids in the city on Tuesday. A spokesman for the Rangers said 16 suspects were apprehended in raids in Gadap, Brigade, Sharea Faisal, Al-Falah, Kalri and Risala areas.

The suspects were identified as Abdus Salaam, Zia Gul, Gul Baran, Sher Alam, Baraat Khan, Imam Bux, Daniyal Kashif, Jawad Ali, Abdullah, Farman Ali, Noman, Salman Ali, Faisal, Muzamil Hussain, Karim Bux, Muhammad Khalid and Lal Khan Jakhrani, the spokesman said.

The arrested suspects were involved in robberies, street crimes and other offences, he added. The spokesman said five more suspects were rounded up in separate raids in Kalri, Sharea Faisal, Chakiwara and Baghdadi areas.

The arrested men were identified as Irshaad, Mehmood, Muhammad Hassan, Jalal Khan and Waseem Raja, he added. The arrested suspects were involved in drug peddling and stealing motorcycles, he added.

The spokesman said weapons, looted items and narcotics were found in the possession of some of the arrested suspects. All arrested men were later handed over to police for legal proceedings, he added.

Law and order review

Director General (DG) Sindh Rangers Umer Ahmed Bukhari held meeting at his office to review the law and order situation.

The Rangers spokesman said the meeting was attended by the Karachi Commissioner, the Additional IG Karachi, and DIGs of the Counter Terrorism Department, the Special Branch, and the Traffic Police. The other participants included DIGs of East, West and South, and personnel of the intelligence agencies.

The spokesman said the meeting discussed the overall law and order situation of the province, especially Karachi.

It was reiterated in the meeting that the secularity forces and the law enforcement agencies will continue to protect the lives and property of the citizen for which extra security measures would adopted to avert any untoward situation.
