Rangers seize smuggled cigarettes, gutka

The Sindh Rangers with the assistance of the Pakistan Customs have seized a huge quantity of contraband items worth millions of rupees.

A spokesman for the paramilitary force said that Rangers and Customs personnel conducted an intelligence-based raid at the border of Sindh and Balochistan and seized non-customs paid items, including gutka and cigarettes.

The contraband items were found in an intercity bus heading to Lahore from Quetta.The items seized included around 90 cartons of various brands of cigarettes and nine packets of Indian gutka. Their worth was estimated at around Rs6.8 million.

Hashish seized

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) seized fine quality of hashish from Gatti Dor area in Gwadar.

A spokesman for the PCG said that upon credible information from intelligence sources regarding the smuggling of narcotics in Gwadar, a special team was sent for search.

As the team searched an abandoned place in Gatti Dor, they found 2,100 kilogrammes of fine quality of hashish dumped there. This dumped consignment of hashish was planned to be transported abroad and its approximate value was Rs3,255 million.
