KARACHI: Commercial Chief of US Department of Commerce Nathan Seifert on Thursday said US was trying to normalise trade relationship with Pakistan and was making good progress in this regard.
Bilateral trade was revisited again during the third visit of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan to US which was very important for both the leaders as well as the business communities of both countries, the envoy said during his visit to the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).
“United States is trying to normalise trade relationship and we are making good progress in increasing trade,” he said. A Pakistani delegation would participate in International Poultry and Processing Exposition in Atlanta at the end of this month. The delegates would be introduced by the representatives from Department of Commerce, and would also be provided space for B2B meetings, Seifert said.
He also informed that applications were currently being reviewed for another Pakistani delegation’s participation in the World of Concrete 2020 event scheduled at the beginning of February 2020 in Las Vegas.
Moreover, large Pakistani companies interested in expanding their businesses would be taken to US for participation in SelectUSA in June 2020 so they could have some sort of footprint in the US by investing in an office or a facility or even a factory, the US commercial chief said, adding that this particular delegation would be led by him for participation in SelectUSA in Washington DC.
