Illegal appointments: Supreme Court fines KP govt over misrepresentation

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday dismissed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government's petition regarding alleged illegal appointments in the Communications and Works Department.

The court also imposed Rs0.5 million fine over misrepresentation. A three-member bench of the court headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed heard the case regarding alleged illegal appointments in KP Communications and Works Department.

During the course of proceedings, the Chief Justice asked the Advocate General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa whether he had seen his application and had the KP government acknowledged its error. The court after hearing the arguments dismissed KP government petition and imposed Rs0.5 million fine over misrepresentation. The court directed the KP chief minister to take action against persons involved and submit the fine amount to Edhi Foundation.
