PESHAWAR: A Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and former federal minister Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti has said the existing situation and passage of Services Chiefs' Bills by the Parliament has exposed the entire political parties and enhanced sense of deprivation among the masses.
Talking to The News here on Thursday, he called for getting rid of Prime Minister Imran Khan who, he said, was inefficient and made life miserable for the common people during his one and half years government. He said the galloping price-hike of daily commodities including petrol, gas, and electricity has multiplied miseries of the people. The PPP leader also criticised the policies of the major political parties.
Without naming any political party, the PPP leader posed a question as to where were those who had been demanding “Vote Ko Izzat Do” (give respect to vote) and those who had been making tall claims of democracy and people rights.
The PPP leader said the people were now asking as to why they should give respect to vote and what for? He said the dictatorial attitude of political leadership had created disappointment among the people and it would be dangerous for the country and its institutions if the existing sense of unrest and disappointment among the people continued to grow.
Khwaja Hoti believed that a caretaker government can be established with a consensus for five years to steer the country out of present crises. This, the PPP leader said, would improve the deteriorating economic situation of the country and also mitigate the sufferings of the people.
The PPP leader said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rulers had been making tall claims of introducing reforms, promising jobs and houses for the poor but instead of honouring the commitments, they snatched jobs and made the poor homeless in the name of the anti-encroachment drive.
The government, he said, also ignored its promises of accountability and started political victimisation in the name of accountability. Later, he pointed out, the NAB law was changed only to save the skin of some of his party leaders, adding such accountability would not be acceptable to anyone. The PPP leader said the politically conscious people had realized double standards of the PTI leaders and they would not be deceived any more through attractive slogans.
The PTI, he said, had failed to deliver at all fronts and it had lost the confidence of the masses. Khwaja Hoti claimed the establishment of a caretaker government for five years was a must, which, he said, would not only improve the economy but also improve relations with neighbouring countries and its image at the international level.
