Sindh govt supports industrialists

KARACHI: The Sindh government fully supports the protest of industrialists over the crisis of gas shortage to industries in the province, a government official said on Monday. During a meeting with businessmen and industrialists at his office, Sindh Minister for Energy Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh also made telephonic calls to industrialists Siraj Qasim Teli, Jawaid Balwani and Zubair Motiwala and expressed his complete support to their demand of enhancing gas supply to industries.

He also contacted Federal Secretary Petroleum and Managing Director of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and informed them about the prevailing gas crisis in Sindh and demanded immediate supply of required and approved gas quota to the province, especially to the industries.

Shaikh said that the present gas crisis was due to the incompetence of the federal government. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah had also written a number of letters to the federal government and had demanded supply of the required gas quota as per the constitution of Pakistan, the minister said.
