Two Dolphin cops martyred in Pindi exchange of fire

RAWALPINDI: Three people, including two Dolphin Force personnel and an attacker were killed and two others, including a cop and a woman, sustained injuries Tuesday evening when a gunman opened fire near the Metro Bus Station Saddar.

Cops Mohammad Ali and Saeed Ahmad were gunned down, while the gunman was also killed during the police action. A police spokesperson said a Dolphin police team, comprising Head Constable Mohammad Ali, Constable Saeed Ahmad and two other constables, were deployed at the KFC picket.

The police stopped a man for search but he suddenly whipped out a gun and opened fire, killing Mohammad Ali and Saeed Ahmad on the spot.

Both suffered multiple injuries in the upper part of their chest while Constable Hassan and a passerby woman Sumaira, 38, were injured.

The police retaliated and killed the attacker on the spot. The bodies and the injured were later shifted to hospital.

The identity of the attacker could not be known till the filing of report at 10pm.

City Police Officer (CPO) Mohammad Ehsen Younas told this reporter that terrorism would be countered at any cost. He said the martyred cops had sacrificed their lives to keep peace in the city.

He said the police were performing their duties for implementation of law and providing a peaceful atmosphere to the residents of Pindi.

“The police force are proud of their men who sacrificed their lives to protect people,” the CPO concluded.
