Soldier martyred in North Waziristan attack

BANNU: A soldier was martyred and three others went missing when suspected militants attacked them in Madaini area in Shewa tehsil in North Waziristan district on Wednesday, sources said.

The sources said that unidentified armed men attacked a group of soldiers at Madaini in which Lance Naik Amjad sustained injuries. Three soldiers went missing in the attack on the security forces, the sources said, adding, a search operation was launched in the area in which a helicopter was also used.

During the search operation, Lance Naik Amjad was found to have succumbed to his injuries. The missing soldiers were identified as Naik Murtaza, Naik Ismail and Sabir, who is from the Khassadar force.

The search to locate them was continuing, but there was no clue yet about their whereabouts. North Waziristan remains the most unstable district compared to the other six merged districts in erstwhile Fata.
