In his message on the World Human Rights Day, which is observed on December 10 every year, the prime minister tweeted, "on Human Rights Day, we must appeal to the world's conscience, to upholders of international law and to the UNSC to act against the illegal annexation of IOJK by the Indian occupation government".

The premier said in another tweet, “we condemn the occupying Indian government's siege of IOJK ongoing for over 4 months now and demand an end to the gross abuse & atrocities being inflicted on Kashmiri men, women & children by Indian occupation forces in violation of all international humanitarian & human rights laws. We salute & stand resolutely with the brave Kashmiris struggling for their right of self-determination”.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also wrote on the World Human Rights Day that, “Muslims need to remember the message of equality, justice and protection of human rights for all that Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) had given over 1,400 years ago”. He also wrote that his government was committed to protecting the rights of every Pakistani citizen without any discrimination in the light of divine sayings of Holy Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH), particularly his sermon on Hujjatul Wida and as per the Constitution of Pakistan.

In his statement, President Dr Arif Alvi said Pakistan completely supported Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and independence. He expressed grave concern over the military lockdown, curfew and trampling of human rights in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

President Alvi emphasised that favouring human dignity, protecting human rights, freedom and equality was one of the fundamental principles of Islam and the Constitution. He said the government was committed to protecting human rights.

Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari also emphasised that the world could not ignore the massive human rights violations, being committed by the Indian government occupation forces in Kashmir. “While the world marks Human Rights Day today, it cannot ignore the massive human rights violations being committed by the Indian occupying government in IOJK where it’s occupation forces use rape as a weapon of war; use inhumane weapons like pellet guns including against women & children & continue a siege of IOJK for over 4 months so far depriving Kashmiris of basic human rights.”

She also emphasised that on Human Rights Day, “We must address the challenges we face in ensuring global respect for human rights & protection of these rights within our own country. After years of dictatorships and civilian neglect, we are making sincere efforts to traverse a difficult path of ensuring human rights for every Pakistani as laid out in our Constitution, as envisaged by our Founder Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and in fulfillment of our international commitments. Foremost before us is the example set by our Prophet (PBUH) in respecting human rights and human dignity.”
