ISLAMABAD: Member PCB’s Board Of Governors Numan Butt while commenting on the recent statement of PCB over distribution of funds reference to regions and different heads had said that the PCB’s given figures stated that it spent Rs317.2 million on erstwhile Regions (RCAs) for four to five years.

Numan said a careful stats-analysis of this figure demonstrated that PCB spent only approximately Rs5.3 million per month or Rs63.47 million per year on the development and uplifting of cricket in the whole country through elected RCAs.

He said this amount is peanuts when compared it to two basic parameters: How much annually PCB received from the ICC for cricket development which is $13 million or Rs1.7515 billion, and how much it spent on salaries and perks and privileges of its only five senior officials.

“Now coming to another comparison as to how much PCB invests in cricket development across Pakistan on its associations is that it received Rs1.75 billion in one year from ICC for cricket development. But incurred Rs63.47 million per annum on RCAs relating to matters mentioned in PCB’s press release.”

Numan added that there are two basic things to ponder, firstly, PCB spent half on their cricket development in entire Pakistan compared to salaries, perks and privileges per month of their just 5 top officials, and secondly, PCB spent only 3.62 percent on cricket development in the regions/entire Pakistan from the total amount it received from ICC for cricket development per annum in the country.

“Primarily, it is the main reason and extremely faulty strategy of the PCB which cost our cricket development dearly every year,” he added.

Numan also pointed that in all around 12,000 matches of the PCB tournaments, district championships etc in each district were organised by the erstwhile Regions in 2018-19.
