Dear Ed,

I really appreciated the cover story and article about ‘’Inktober’’, which I found in some previous issues of Us. Let me tell you guys that it was so great to know that the current ‘’art-scene’’ among our Pakistani youth is not being neglected. They are not only participating in the challenge but also writing and sharing their experiences! Really cool.

Having said that, I too participated in this year’s challenge. Can’t really say I finished all the way and all that with ink, but guys it was so fun trying to stay committed to what I love…this October, while it lasted. Well, the writers got it so right... it’s not about completing the challenge, feeling any kind of compulsion or the pressure to do it, but to embrace what it really represents, that is to connect with something that you didn’t know…you had forgotten somewhere along the way and got out of your comfort zone to do it.

Again, it was quite fun for me and I’m gonna have to share it with you guys. Why wouldn’t I? Maybe you guys there should too.

Youth and fashion

Dear Editor,

I want to draw your attention to the craze for fashions that has gripped young people. Students waste their time and money carelessly on fashions because they wish to look stylish. Young students pay more attention to fashion and are less attentive to their studies. This attitude is harming the very basics of the student community, and will damage their future career. Therefore, in order to be more focused on career development, they highly need parental supervision along with teacher guidance. Furthermore, such teenagers also require regular counselling and practical assistance by the educational authorities which would result in a positive outcome.

Reflection

Narrated by Abu Huraira (R.A)

Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) owed a man some debt (and that man demanded it very harshly). The companions of the Prophet wanted to harm him, but the Prophet said to them, “Leave him, as the creditor has the right to speak harshly.” He then added, “Buy (a camel) of the same age and give it to him.” They said, “We cannot get except a camel of an older age than that of his.” He said, “Buy it and give it to him, as the best amongst you is he who pays back his debt in the most handsome way.’
