Known for his unmatched acting and direction in and as Manto (2015), for which he received multiple accolades, Sarmad Khoosat is considered one of the most valuable directors the industry has today. Unsurprisingly, the man behind super hit plays like Humsafar and Shehr-e-Zaat, was honoured with the Pride of Performance award earlier this year for his valuable contributions to the entertainment industry.

Khoosat is having a busy year as he has been engaged with quite a few TV productions and is quite visible on television these days. He is currently starring in two popular ongoing TV plays – Teri Raza alongside Sanam Baloch and Baaghi alongside Saba Qamar and Ali Kazmi. While he essays the role of an aggressive brother to Qamar in Baaghi, he is playing a caring and thoughtful husband to Baloch in Teri Raza. The actor-director will also be seen in Angeline Malick’s upcoming social drama, Mujhe Jeene Dou alongside Gohar Rasheed, Hania Amir and Najia Jamil.

Moving on to his directorial ventures, Khoosat is these days working on a script in collaboration with Kashf Foundation that will talk about sensitive, taboo issues that affect women. Titled Akhri Station, the upcoming project is a mini-series based on seven episodes and will tell the stories of seven women who are going through tough circumstations in life. It features Sanam Saeed, Mikaal Zulfiqar and Nimra Bucha amongst others and will go on air later this year. Another drama to make way to television screens is an untitled project starring Sajal Aly and Imran Abbas.

Given Sarmad Khoosat’s phenomenal range as a director, we are eager to see what he has on offer for viewers this time. Whatever it may be, we’re sure it’s going to be something worth watching out for!
