The past week was all about Independence Day celebrations. While music listeners were focused on Coke Studio 10 and Pepsi Battle of the Bands, the major highlight of the week was how our favourite stars celebrated 70 years of Pakistan’s Independence. Almost everyone wore outfits that not only reflected their style philosophy but also showcased their love for the country. Instep picks up four celebrations that caught our eye…
Momina Mustehsan
Have you ever attended a concert in the sky? A few lucky PIA passengers have. PIA celebrated 70 years of Pakistan’s Independence by hosting a one of its kind ‘In-Flight Jam’ featuring Momina Mustehsan. The singer sang ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ and the Coke Studio song that was Mustehsan’s claim to fame, ‘Afreen Afreen’. Anoushey Ashraf was also present on this flight.
Ali Rehman Khan
While most of us did the same old things this year, some people were trying to break the world record for the ‘Largest Cookie Mosaic’. As part of Sooper’s campaign #SooperHaiPakistan, celebrities attempted to make the world’s largest flag made out of Sooper cookies on 14th August this year. It was a star-studded affair, with the likes of Hareem Farooq, Osman Khalid Butt, and Ali Rehman Khan in attendance.
Jeremy McLellan
American comedian Jeremy McLellan whipped up quite a storm on social media, thanks to all the love that he professed for Pakistan for the two weeks that he was in the country. McLellan toured two cities, performed 6 shows and celebrated Independence Day in great fervour by visiting the Pak-India border and other known landmarks in Islamabad and Lahore. "It was the best trip I could have asked for. I miss home, but I can’t wait to come back," he wrote on his official Facebook page. This time, we hope he visits Karachi as well!
Kami Sid
We’re glad to see transgender model and activist Kami Sid so often lately and thrilled by her choice of clothing this Independence Day. Sid was dressed in a casual Sonya Battla kurta,
depicting an image of Quaid-e-Azam. She looked trendy and sporty, thanks to her olive pants and white sneakers.
