New Year’s eve and the preluding partying has been going on all week but what caught our eye on Instagram was the set of high profile weddings and shaadi festivities. We saw celebrities and socialites look their absolutely best in finery that spoke volumes on Pakistan’s rich cultural traditions while being contemporary and modern enough to be relevant today. These are four of our favourite looks…

Parishae James

Parishae, who we’ve seen on the catwalk and who is better known as veteran supermodel and catwalk queen Frieha Altaf’s daughter, looked extremely statuesque and chic in Zaheer Abbas. We love the modest lines of this black silk shalwar kameez, which leaves an impression of being almost androgynous. We also love the fact that the embellishment is innovatively shrugging the shoulders as opposed to being typically on the neckline or hem. Parishae, tall and lovely, carries the look very well.

Ayesha Omar

Locking in on tradition in total resplendence, Ayesha Omar wears this Rano’s Heirloom ensemble to perfection. Rano’s Heirlooms is a high value couture brand that isn’t as mainstream as many brands we see but it is highly coveted in exclusive circles. We love the vibrancy on this outfit, magnified by the fact that it complements Ayesha’s petite frame without overpowering her. We also love her choice of jewellery; Amber Sami makes the perfect accessory to this delightful look.

Zara Khan

No one plays with heritage better than The House of Kamiar Rokni and we absolutely adore each and every one of their collections. This gorgeous indigo ensemble from their Heritage collection ticks all the right aesthetic boxes. We love the traditional velvet and silk gharara and it’s gota detailing. Zara Khan wears it with a regal Chughtai air and her look is amplified by her choice of jewellery. That jhoomar and choker - undeniably vintage – is to die for.

Syra Shehroze

Also topping our list of wedding wear designers this week is Shehla Chatoor, who’s a party as well as wedding favourite. We saw many spectacular outfits from her latest Tresor collection make it to the festive horizon and this salmon pink caftan stood out for being unique. Shehla is more contemporary than classic and Syra Shehroze, whose film Chalay Thay Saath will release in 2017, looks extremely pretty in this delicately embellished ensemble.
