This was quite a happening week for Pakistan’s fashion, except all the action took place in London! Fashion Parade saw an exodus of local designers and media fly out to the Queen’s country, to participate in the day long extravaganza which brought together an international A-list. Showcasing couturiers including big names like Faiza Samee, Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, Ali Xeeshan and Nomi Ansari, the audience included Bollywood starlet Amy Jackson, who turned up in support of designer Saira Rizwan, whose lawn she also endorsed this season. We present our pick of the hottest red carpet appearances from this haute presentation, bringing you the best style looks that crossed our path this week.
Faiza Samee The veteran designer may be reclusive when it comes to fashion weeks in Pakistan but that does not mean, for a second, that she’s slowed down her game. Faiza Samee showed a spectacular collection at Fashion Parade - reminding us of what we’re missing back home - and when on the red carpet, she looked as graceful and ageless as ever. We need to know her secret!
Nomi Ansari Ansari is a man who knows his way around colour. You only need to look at images from his latest collection and you’ll be amazed at the dexterity with which Ansari can place all the shades of the rainbow, and then some, in one outfit, without allowing it to look tacky. He preaches the same style rules with his outfit, accessorizing his tailored, three piece suit with quirky buttons that ranged from a blinged out dollar sign to an aircraft and even a WiFi emoji. Turns out Ansari was repping his collection, Joyride, which is all about combining kitsch with millennial pop art.
Amy Jackson and Saira Rizwan Joining the long list of designers who turn to our neighbouring country to find celebrities to endorse their lawn, Saira Rizwan chose British babe Amy Jackson as her muse for the season. Jackson, who has a couple of Indian flicks to her credit, cuts a dashing figure at the Fashion Parade. She is pictured in a sleek black sheath with Saira Rizwan in a cool, white ensemble, undoubtedly from her own label. It’s those blue shoes that hold our attention!
Sadia Siddiqui, Ali Xeeshan and Ammara Hikmat Fashionable besties Sadia Siddiqui (of Mustang Productions), Ali Xeeshan and Ammara Hikmat pulled out the stops on the Fashion Parade red carpet. It was an evening which demanded high octane glamour and while the ladies pulled out their finery (Ammara Hikmat in a customised Saira Shakira gown), Ali Xeeshan stayed committed to his sense of bizarre. Never one to conform, he once again put up a shocking look replete with a silver head piece.
