According to a media report, more than 26,000 litres of Iranian diesel was unearthed in a raid in the superb of Karachi. The diesel could have come either by boat or through land routes – both are well guarded.
Strict disciplinary action should, therefore, be taken against not only junior officials but at the highest level of the respective Customs, Coast Guards, Levies, FC and/or any other department concerned for not exercising proper control. There is no use punishing the junior staff only. It is time the highest was made to account for. Accountability of a few top heads in the departments concerned will automatically ensure proper vigilance and control at each tier of the department and eliminate corruption in it.
