Sanam Baloch and Ali Rehman Khan-starrer Khaas that is nearing an end has been generating admiration for multiple reasons - since it first went on air.

Firstly, because Saba (Sanam) was reactive to her ex-husband Ammar’s (Ali) taunts rather than accepting them as her destiny.

Secondly, the drama highlighted how traumatic emotional abuse can be in a relationship and how easily its repercussions are ignored.

Thirdly and most importantly, Khaas has created a narrative around how parents brought up their children and how important it is for parents to support and/or discourage them when they are right and/or wrong, respectively.

Ammar, who kept finding faults in his ex wife Saba, and shattered her confidence completely, gets married to his university fellow Salma, essayed by Hira Tareen, who he always admired. As opposed to Saba, Hira snaps back at him whenever he tries to overpower her while she is least bothered abour Ammar’s family too. Saba, on the other hand, marries Fakhir (played by Haroon Shahid), Ammar’s friend, who always adored her and valued her for who she is.

In the recent episode that went on air earlier this week, Ammar recalls how Saba wished that he gets a taste of his own medicine. She used to tell him that he will realize her pain when he will be mistreated and insulted in the same way as he treated her.

Salma’s attitude towards him and his family clearly makes them miss Saba while the latter has no place for him. Ammar cannot accept the fact that she is happily married to his friend Fakhir now.

Whether he tries to change himself or breaks off whatever relationship he has left with Salma, will be uncovered in next episode, which is probably the last.
