Is the son of Spanish American business mogul John Casablancas who founded Elite Model Management, and Danish former model Jeanette Christiansen who was the 1965 Miss Denmark.
Parents divorced when he was eight.
Has four paternal half-siblings.
Formed the rock band The Strokes with his childhood and school friends in 1998. The group received fame and acclaimed with the release of their debut album Is This It (2001). They have since released four more albums: Room on Fire (2003), First Impressions of Earth (2006), Angles (2011), and Comedown Machine (2013).
His debut solo album, Phrazes for the Young, came out in 2009.
Started the experimental rock band The Voidz in 2013 with whom he has made two albums, Tyranny (2014) and Virtue (2018).
Married Juliet Joslin, the then-assistant manager of The Strokes, in 2005. They have two sons - Cal (born 2010) and Zephyr (born 2015).
