This refers to the news report, ‘SC gets NAB report on 150 mega corruption cases’ (July 8). In the wake of this report, our trust and confidence in the country’s leadership, bureaucracy and technocracy have massively eroded. Corruption is a vice that is found everywhere in Pakistan today. Its crippling effect on governance can be seen over the last four decades.
Time and again, the gullible people of Pakistan have placed their trust in state organisations to solve socioeconomic problems, weed out corrupt elements and corruption only to be disappointed by the failure of politically-driven solutions. The time has come for all state organs and government agencies such as NAB, the FIA, the Rangers, etc, to play their role effectively to eliminate corruption in all its forms and manifestations to save this country.
