The recent deaths caused by the heatwave in Karachi have exposed the real face of the Sindh government. Instead of expediting relief efforts, the Sindh CM described it as a natural calamity, indirectly absolving his administration of any responsibility. This indifferent attitude is condemnable.
The PM, during his one-day visit to Karachi, directed the provincial government to hold all those responsible for this tragedy accountable. It is good to note that the PM constituted a three-member committee to facilitate cooperation between the federal and Sindh governments. In addition, the PM also directed the CM to conduct an impartial inquiry and prepare a report. It is hoped that the PM’s visit will help provide some relief to the people of Sindh, especially those in Karachi.
