There are some love stories that we just cannot get enough of, even when we know they’re fictional. Whether it’s a romantic comedy or a romantic drama, our obsession boils down to the power of the on-screen couple. What would Titanic have been without the spark of Jack and Rose? Would we consider The Notebook a classic if there was no chemistry between Noah and Allie?

Admit it or not but everyone has those certain television plays and movies that they can watch over and over again, and it is mainly because the two characters are shown to be brilliantly ideal for one another. Also, one can’t deny the fact that love stories which are enticing and have intriguing characters play a major role in making on-screen couples an instant hit.

Here are 5 of our favorite duos that have made us go gaga in the past with their intense chemistry and we definitely want to see more of them in the future…

Fawad Khan & Mahira Khan

Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan are arguably one of the most beloved couples of all time and hence top our list. They looked amazing in the popular drama serial Humsafar (2011) in which Fawad essayed the character of Asher, while Mahira played Khirad. We have been forever in love with the duo and it is probably the connection between the two which is why Humsafar is regarded one of the most successful plays even after so many years.

While the two have not appeared together in any other play, they were seen together in the Lux commercial a few years ago. Mahira and Fawad have paired up for Bilal Lashari’s The Legend of Maula Jatt and we are anxiously waiting for the release of the film and see the two create magic on screen once again.

Humayun Saeed & Mehwish Hayat

This is the only couple that we have seen romancing each other on the big screen as well as the small screen. Mehwish Hayat and Humayun Saeed first appeared in Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, which became the highest-grossing film of 2015. A year later, in 2016, they were seen on the small screen in drama serial Dil Lagi (also directed by Nadeem Baig) and sizzled together. The duo once again shared the screen in Nadeem Baig’s Punjab Nahi Jaungi that also went on to become a box office super hit. The two are surely a public favourite and their amazing chemistry keeps us hooked to every project they do together.

Hamza Ali Abbasi & Maya Ali

More famously known as the Mann Mayal couple, Maya Ali essayed the character of Manahil (Mannu) and Hamza Ali Abbasi played the part of Salahuddin in the play. Owing to its emotional script, the two shared brilliant on-screen chemistry in Mann Mayal. The play was a roller coaster of emotions and as their beautiful story unraveled before us, this couple certainly made our hearts melt. Is there any other project in the pipeline for the two? Only time will tell.

Sajal Aly & Ahad Raza Mir

Pakistani dramas have time and time again given us a number of plays that we just can’t get enough of and with them, the most unconventional couples that ended up sizzling on-screen. One of them is definitely the Yakeen Ka Safar duo Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir, who were also seen in the recently concluded period drama Aangan.

Sajal as Zubia and Ahad as Dr. Asfandyar had our hearts and became an immediate hit with Yakeen Ka Safar. Recent reports suggest that the two will soon appear in a play which has been written by award-winning author and screenwriter Farhat Ishtiaq, who also wrote Yakeen Ka Safar.

Last month, the two got engaged and we couldn’t be happier; their real-life romance definitely adds value to their reel-life chemistry.

Iqra Aziz & Farhan Saeed

Another on-screen couple Jiya and Arsal – essayed by the versatile Iqra Aziz and singer-actor Farhan Saeed respectively – stole our hearts in the popular drama serial, Suno Chanda. The television play aired last year during the month of Ramazan and the sequel to Suno Chanda went on air this May in which Iqra and Farhan reprised their roles as Arsal and Jiya. The duo was seen arguing and teasing each other in the first season, while in season 2 nothing changed even after they get married and keep on fighting. Their amazing on-screen chemistry, fuelled by their love-hate relationship, kept the audiences glued to their TV screens.

Let’s wait and see when the two will appear next.
